All Bookable International Destinations from Denver on Southwest

I love Southwest Airlines and started researching all the new international destinations they have (Belize, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Aruba, Bahamas, Jamaica and Puerto Rico).

Their tools are a bit behind and searching for fares is still a bit tough so I thought I’d detail out what I’ve figured out and you can let me know in the comments.

International cities:

BZE – Belize City (planned October 2015)
CUN – Cancún
MEX – Mexico City
MBJ – Montego Bay
NAS – Nassau
AUA – Oranjestad, Aruba
PVR – Puerto Vallarta (planned June 2015)
PUJ – Punta Cana
SJO – San José (planned March 2015)
SJD – San José del Cabo
SJU – San Juan

When searching for tickets to fly to these great places I found a lot of errors, like this one:

“Flights from Denver – DEN to Mexico City – MEX are not scheduled to operate on 01/20/2015. Please select an alternate date or choose another origination/destination. Please visit the Southwest Airlines interactive route map for alternate choices. (SW100105-bw63deL3SrS7NUdbWHL2lg)”

Southwest international error
Took a while to figure out how to get around this but you simply go to southwest.com and click “Flexible dates”
flexible-dates-southwest
This will get you to a ‘by the month’ search which lets you look at all the different dates and options!
southwest-flexible-search
Sometimes you will still get errors “There were no available flights found that match your search criteria. Please try again. (7190 – 9913)” with no flights available.
For instance, Denver, CO to Nassau, BS has no flights available for any month.
No flights
So it isn’t an option, unfortunately, but at least we know!
What is the best deal from DEN to these locations? I searched around to find the lowest possible combination in cash and points.

BZE – Belize City (planned October 2015)
No flight options yet.

CUN – Cancún
Direct flight
Sample dates January 26-29
$386.80 or 19,460 points plus $69.30 tax round trip

MEX – Mexico City
One stop in San Antonio
Sample dates March 7-21st
$461.82 or 22,260 points plus $95.32 tax round trip

MBJ – Montego Bay
One stop in Chicago MDW
Sample dates March 9-13th
$508.13 or 24,360 points plus $111.63 tax round trip

NAS – Nassau
No flight options yet.

AUA – Oranjestad, Aruba

One stop in Houston HOU
Sample dates April 4-18th
$585.70 or 32,480 points plus $76.20 tax round trip

PVR – Puerto Vallarta (planned June 2015)
No flight options yet.

PUJ – Punta Cana
One stop in Chicago MDW (although I could only find one date flying down on January 2nd) and returning through Atlanta ATL
Sample dates January 2-17
$668.80 or 35,630 points plus $111.30 tax round trip
*I think the departing flight is an error and will eventually match the return of $226 or 9030 points and tax

SJO – San José (planned March 2015)
No flight options yet.

SJD – San José del Cabo
Direct flight
Sample dates January 12-16th
$239.27 or 9,800 points plus $59.77 tax round trip

SJU – San Juan
2 stops on departure in Atlanta and Orlando, 1 on the return in Orlando
Sample dates February 10-17th
$319.70 or 18,200 points plus $11.20 tax round trip

Things to note:
  • I was able to get to the booking screen for each quoted fare.
  • Lots of great looking places with some extremely low points booking options (under 10,000 points is amazing).
  • There are some odd things that I’m sure are being ironed out such as very limited departure dates with plenty of return dates like this screenshot:only-one-departure-date
  • The direct flights from DEN are by far the cheapest
  • The cash price for these flights seems quite high but the points bookings make them seem reasonable

What did I miss?

Edit: also to note these are all the under 5000 point one way cities:
