Tea parties were not about targeting Obama alone, they are the result of 8+ years of overspending, this last stimulus package push was just the straw that broke the camel's back. The media on the left has twisted it into some Republican anti-tax movement as a strawman argument, and the media on the right has claimed it as it's own to try to steal some glory from it. But it's really been a grassroots movement, started by a few people here and there around the country (one of the first was my friend Keli in Seattle, a math teacher who was fed up).
