Google Local Search Results for Ticket Scalping

Interesting search I just did…

The Swell Season is in town in a few weeks. I wanted to see if tickets had gone on sale, so I searched “Denver Swell Season.” A local result popped up (with a map, top of everyone else results) and I thought “wow, the venues are getting it.” Single events are hard.

Wrong. Clicked through, and a scalper owns that result, not the venue. Sleazy to me. Tickets In Town is the offending site.

Google Local Scalpers

Pretty sure this isn’t how local search was designed.

Just a test comment. New domain and all.

If there is a way to make money off of something, somebody will find a way to take advantage of it for their own personal gain. It's Web 101.

  • I have noticed that quite often also. I never click on the local results anymore because they are usually not as relevant to what I am searching for, since I usually just want the website not the map with location.

Local search is handy when you want the hours of a local place though!
