Interesting Trends In Celebrity Twitter Accounts

I was interested tonight in a tweet by @TheEllenShow trying to push to 500,000 followers on twitter.
Wow, half a million.  Really impressive.
But wait.  The account has only been active since August of 2008.  Roughly, that is adding 2000 people a day.
So I poked around a bit.  Interesting findings.

TwitSpace: A Twitter UI Improvement That Ruined It

Something has been unusual about Twitter in the last two months.  I couldn’t quite pin it, but it seemed there was a mass increase of spammers or people that have spammer like behavior.
