Athens has been great. I still have not adjusted to the time difference, it is 6:30am and I have not slept since noon yesterday. At this point, with a day left, I have just abandoned the idea of adjusting the time lag. I have never done well with jet lag.
This that have impressed me about Athens:
Beauty. The buildings are amazing.
There are stray dogs pretty much everywhere. Cats too.
There is amazing hospitality. Not a single person let me pay for a meal/ drink / bus ticket until four days into my trip.
Things that I think are really weird:
Smoking is everywhere, and by smoking I mean chain smoking.
There is really no way for the disabled to get around the city. I hear stories about families hiding members of their family that have been in an accident.
Graffiti is everywhere. Except the subway, which is pristine.
I have seen one bike rider in Athens, and have yet to see someone exercising.
All in all it has been an amazing trip. A great way to put a different spin on what your reality is. The beauty of travel.
Some great time for reflection.
The great lens I have been using is from Pro Photo Rental, which I highly recommend.
