In some funny news, the Atlanta Startup Weekend’s organizer Lance just wrote a post responding to Paul Graham’s latest essay entitled “If you don’t live in SF or Boston, you will fail in business.” Actually, it is titled “Why to Move to a Startup Hub” and is a good read.
I will take my quality of life over living in a “Startup Hub” for now, and with 10 companies around me all doing some amazing work, I need to figure out what the advantage of living in a hub is. Living and starting a company, I don’t care if there are 20 deals cut around me everyday. If I am looking for funding, I will care about just one deal. It is great to have the energy, but brilliant people live all over (as I am learning from Startup Weekend). I like ‘lifestyle companies over ‘burn and turn’ startup life. Call me crazy.
