Google Local Search Results for Ticket Scalping

Interesting search I just did…

The Swell Season is in town in a few weeks. I wanted to see if tickets had gone on sale, so I searched “Denver Swell Season.” A local result popped up (with a map, top of everyone else results) and I thought “wow, the venues are getting it.” Single events are hard.

Wrong. Clicked through, and a scalper owns that result, not the venue. Sleazy to me. Tickets In Town is the offending site.

Google Local Scalpers

Pretty sure this isn’t how local search was designed.

If there is a way to make money off of something, somebody will find a way to take advantage of it for their own personal gain. It's Web 101.

I have noticed that quite often also. I never click on the local results anymore because they are usually not as relevant to what I am searching for, since I usually just want the website not the map with location.

Local search is handy when you want the hours of a local place though!
