Long bike rides will open you up to the country like no other mode of transportation. I recommend not doing it as fast as these guys! If there’s one thing I learned riding 4,000 miles across the country last year, it was to leave time to explore, meet people, and take a day or two off if the area is worth it.
What are you thinking for touring? Let me know if you want to do a tester tour of a couple weeks sometime, I’d be down to consider a ride.
