iVolunteer Meets With a Bang

I went to an event Tuesday night that surprised me.  My friends Rich Grote and Dave Angulo are putting together an iPhone app to make finding volunteering opportunities easier.  It will be based on your location and preferences.  Pretty cool, has the potential to do a lot of good.

They have been working away at building up volunteers for a few months.  This while building out the app and meeting with partners trying to get the data of volunteering information.  Tuesday, I saw on the Boulder Calendar, that they were having a meetup.

To tell the honest truth, I went because I thought there were only going to be 5 people there, and I know how hard these guys have worked.

When I showed up, there were over 30 people there.  Really top notch people.  Really stoked to be working on the project.  Here are just a few of who showed up.

I left with some tasks on my plate, some new friends, and a renewed feeling that Boulder rocks.  The Van Heyst Group was the gracious host.  Way to go Rich and Dave, this is a great project to get behind.

So, do you want to get involved?  Check out their blog and show up to the next event!

Thank you everyone that showed up.

    Well said, Andrew.

I was totally impressed by the crowd that showed up for our first Meetup. I know we've talked about Boulder's fantastic Talent-to-Fluff Ratio. This seems to be another great example of that.

Thanks for gving us the Andrew Hyde Bump!

Very cool. This is similar, but a way cooler version, to helphookup (location aware! mobile!).

Would be awesome to say, “I've got an hour to kill, what good can I do?” That ease will really help motivate people to do public service.

    Obama would be proud.
