Project Boulder Connect

Boulder is an awesome place to be for tech.  Couldn’t name a better place right now.  Vibrant community, cheap rent/ cost of living, and a smart and supportive community.

We should make it better.

In Boulder, because of our small town size, we don’t have the usergroups of larger cities.  I think it would rock if we had regular, small gatherings of copywritiers, designers, developers, UX, VC’s, etc.  The copywriters group could be called Lorum Ipslam.  This could be a lot of fun.

So I reach out to you Boulder.  If you want to be a friendly host of a meetup, drinkup, eatup or activityup, please fill out this form.  I will chat with you and add the event to the Boulder Calendar.  You don’t have to do anything more than agree to organize, write a post, be there and be friendly.

This push comes from our ongoing effort to welcome those moving to town.  Boulder is for startups.  Let’s keep it going!

What does the joy of winning hosting a major sporting event have to do with Boulder?

It is not just a chance to let the world see what a particular region is about but it is an attempt to shift perceptions and attract a new mindset. In the case of startups it isn't winning the World Cup or the Olympics that matter, but winning the funding and perception that brings like minded as well as divergent people together around a common cause or event or project.

So as someone not from the Boulder community, this is the way I look at this. What it prompts me isn't just an exploration of regional variety but also global understandings.

I believe in diversity of opinion so while someone like Christopher Locke isn't everybody's cup of tea:

… but he is a co-author of the Cluetrain Manifesto, which is one of the works that does put Boulder on the map as a place where digital thinkers reside and shows a relationship with open minded inquiry in relationship to existing cultural landscape. I am sure there are other examples of digital thinkers but since speed rather than depth is my particular online purpose with Disqus use I found this:

The reality of this is sometimes what we find may not be to our liking and sometimes it might feel relevant but that is why posing the startup question as it relates to Boulder is an important one, for first it kicks off thinking, then it might stir appropriate conversation but for the key is continuous learning and self-relevant learning.

I do believe that when one begins to look anew at anything, the goal and action of looking itself yields new insights and new realities that would not occur to others before. How we sort through those discoveries is our own individual choice and I am the last person who wants other to delve into the muck of my own particular opinion.

There is a startup DNA in every place and when that DNA is triggered I do believe that interesting possibilities grow from this soil of discovery as well as collaboration. I thank you for using Disqus as a communication platform, for otherwise I would not have a place to think these thoughts out, and I move on now having flown in as a passing guest to your site. I consider this an invaluable experience personally for me, so I thank you for providing this space to think.

Good luck with startup projects in Boulder and I wish all concerned the very best.

    Regards
