Roundup

A little pop culture roundup:

  • Silversun Pickups and Ghostland Observatory impress me beyond words.
  • I would have never called for the return of plaid and polyester, but that seems to be all the rage in the mountain towns
  • Digg is hot, and still keeping down to earth with the users
  • Asking someone to squirt something at you from the brown thing is supposed to be a cool thing according to Microsoft (see the tons of Zune failure stories).
  • Proud Wii owners are discovering that the Wiimote is just an easy way to destroy your tv.

Hell seems to have frozen over at the Washington Post… one of the most conservative and thoughtless editorial boards in the nation:

Historians are loath to predict the future. It is impossible to say with certainty how Bush will be ranked in, say, 2050. But somehow, in his first six years in office he has managed to combine the lapses of leadership, misguided policies and abuse of power of his failed predecessors. I think there is no alternative but to rank him as the worst president in U.S. history.

    Damn.

Yesterday I got stuck in the snow (damn summer tires) and was helped out by the first two people to walk by. Very kind and refreshing. In return to the karma universe, I am donating a full website to a local company that is starting up and in a ‘growing’ (read -> bootstrapping) phase. Couldn’t be better people over there. I will launch the site soon and fill you in on it. In the meantime, do something nice for someone, and tell me about it.

The blog is about to get a facelift as well.

    Cheers.

My ‘do nice for someone story’ – Corny, but true.

I had received 2 Starbucks cards since I met a goal at work. Woohoo! Not a coffee drinker at all but was looking forward to trying something new and different, for new and different’s sake. Was hanging out with a friend this weekend and it dawned on me that she is a Starbucks fanatic…loves the stuff…so I gave her my cards on the spot.

She was happy and gave me a huge hug and the biggest smile…which of course made me happy as well.

      Don’t ya love happy endings?
