Why I Won’t Buy an iPhone

So the iPhone was announced a few days ago, and I was incredibly impressed.

But I most likely won’t buy one. Why? The partnership with Cingular, and the two year contract. It bugs me that they are not selling the phone unlocked. The service area for Cingular in Boulder is horrid to start, and the cost of the phone is very high. I am not talking about the $500 here either, it is the $500 coupled with the $100 or more a month Cingular will charge for the plans. The cost of getting the iPhone wouldn’t be $500, but over the two years over $2900. Risk three grand on a phone? Nope, not me, not now.
