When meeting with entrepreneurs this statement often comes up:
“nobody has done this idea before!”
I think the person saying it really thinks that is a good thing.
Why has nobody tried that market? Really? Have you just not done your research or are you not being honest about the space in which you are about to enter? Did someone try that, and quickly run away?
I always say this line which must be puzzling to hear after the entrepreneur thinks it is such a phenomenal advantage:
Too bad that someone had not tried this out before because then you could have learned from them.
You are going to launch and learn and it is a disservice to your company to think that your idea is going to solve anything for you.
