BrightKite and FaceBook Connect

I was reading on Cnet how BrightKite was now syncing with Connect from Facebook.

I logged into my account, and under account settings, found the Connect options.  The process was amazingly simple.  Well done to the team.  You can read their blog post or watch the video of what the process was like below.

But what does this mean?

I can’t stop thinking that FaceBook wants to jump out of their walled garden.

Instead of applications (notice how the applications are almost hidden in FaceBook now?) we now have Facebook Connect.  Or so I see it.

Facebooks apps can now be any app or site on the net.  Interesting.

    yeah! the only way I've found how see any application is to type in a search for it. Seems Facebook is purposefully making it difficult.

    Or it could just be me 😉

    I think Facebook is still figuring out how to meld their developer options. Every developer I've talked to has vented frustrations with Facebook over the past year. I agree though, that Facebook Connect seems like the front-runner. I'm excited to see where Facebook goes in 2009.     Andrew, that's a really great way to describe it. Nice one 😉 Check out OneRiot's Facebook Connect implementation as another example… You search on OneRiot; find the news and videos that people are talking about right now in relation to that search query; add to the chatter by creating a user comment; and then take that discussion to all your Facebook friends. (Carmel does a better description here: http://bit.ly/qqDi) Did someone say Facebook should do “social search”? Er, now they sort of are… via OneRiot. As you say, very interesting.
