Review: ChartBeat (forgettable name, great real time analytics)

Here is a screencast I did of my use of ChartBeat.  They did a launch at the Web2Expo last week, and I couldn’t wait to try them out.  I’ve forgotten ChartBeat several times when trying to explain the application.  Don’t know why it is so tough for me.

Here is how ChartBeat works on andrewhyde.net:

So far I love it, very interesting real time data, where, Google Analytics doesn’t do much with the real time data.   I love the txt message feature, alowing me to relax when I am away from the web.

I really love looking at the data for my website but one of the things I've been wondering is, how exactly do you translate the data into something useful?

My friends and I run a tiny film company in our free time, we've done some paying gigs but most of what we produce is our personal stuff which we put online.

We use a word press account because non of us have the skills or the money to hire anyone to build us a site but it does provide us with data such as page views but I've never worked out what to do with the data other than looking at it and thinking, yup so many people looked at our site when we released a new video.

    Anyone have any ideas?

I'd also add that the videos we've put online have only translated into comissioned work once when we shot a tour video of our university accomodation to send to friends back home, the university saw it then asked us to do a shorter paid version.

Is there a way to make our online stuff done for fun translate into more paid work? can the data we get from analyitical tools help?

Thanks for the demo Andrew. I'd love to see you do cover other web apps in a similar fashion.

This is awesome. Thanks for the link and especially the video. How did you do the video (did you edit this or do you have a tool that records you from the webcam and also captures what you see in real time?)???

I think the more you can plan ahead for the pages you are going to click on and what you want to highlight specifically on each page, the better!
