Lots of talk today about Twitter and spammers.
My take on it? Twitter is the spammer. By allowing script services to auto add thousands of people in a short period of time, Twitter is the service sending out thousands of unwanted emails. For one user, Twitter sent out 12,335 emails on their behalf. Enter Twitter the Spammer.
How to fix this? Easy(ish). Limit how many people you follow to 50 a day (or less). Make a captcha, even a really simple one, for every 20th one. This would add very little pain for users, and a whole bunch for the scripters out there.
Just a thought (and I suggested this to twitter over 4 months ago, and got a ‘interesting idea’ response).
