Rock Climber Steph Davis

Over the past few years, one of my most valued friendships has been with Steph Davis. I met her through a friend of a friend, and was just a bit star struck reading about her accomplishments.  She is a professional, and may I say exceptionally gifted athlete.

The main problem one would see of this friendship is the obvious: we are very dissimilar.  I make my living inside.  She makes hers outside.  I enjoy a steak.  She is a passionate vegan.  I have climbed 15 days in my life.  She hasn’t got 15 days without climbing in 20 years.

Somehow, I convinced her to start a blog.  Or she convinced me to set one up for her.  I set up the site, designed it and promoted it as much as I could.  It only took her a month to receive more traffic to her blog than I did to mine.  There is something that attracts the masses with the combination of unbelievable stories and breathtaking pictures.

Her blog, High Infatuation by Steph Davis (same title as her fantastic book) is a must read.  Not only does she climb, and in many cases free climb, but she also B.A.S.E. jumps.

Steph is coming to Boulder February 12th and speaking at Neptune Mountaineering, and I say we have a little welcoming party for her on the 13th.  Boulder climbing and tech scene, meet one of the most inspirational friends I have.  Steph, meet the brilliant community in Boulder.  I’m going to shop for a few venues for this, but if you would like to come, sign up here.

I am planning on hosting the party with Tom from  If you want to help plan or sponsor, let me know, we might be able to throw together an open bar.

@chanson and I are super bummed we'll be missing this. In a cosmic twist of fate (or perhaps something less dramatic), we'll be heading out for the Moab Red Hot 50K.

Bracken, I think beer and climbing is way more fun than a 50k 😉

Even more ironic is that I ran the Red Hot 50K several years ago! (And it was a really really awesome event!)
But, I think I'm going to pick the Boulder party this year 🙂
Thanks Andrew and Tom, for inviting me, you guys are great!
I'll be doing a slide show at Neptune's also, on February 12th, and I hope to see you there too.

Bummer! I'm going to be on a skiing/working (I promise there will be working!) trip to the Pacific Northwest that week. Would really love to see Steph's slides and meet her in person.
