What Are The Top Colorado Endurance Events?

Blurry Biker

I signed up for the Triple Bypass ride again (hope I get in!) and was thinking about the list of notable and interesting Colorado endurance events.  Some examples:

Triple Bypass

Boulder Ironman 70.3

Super Longs (human powered from Boulder to Longs Peak and back)

Rocky Mountain National Park Trail Marathon

Where The Sidewalk Ends

Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Ride

An Unsanctioned Racing Ironman Boulder.

What are yours?  If I get into the Triple, I will be training in Colorado for the summer for 6-7 bigger events like these for a summer to remember.

We did the Estes Park marathon last year (Kyle did full, I did half), and we’re both doing the Colorado marathon this year, plus the Boulder 70.3 (entire series). A houseful of kids makes it tough for both of us to train for major endurance events, but Colorado is the best place for it!

I’m in awe of parents that train and race. I can barely dress myself.

    How about…
    1. Death Ride Tour (http://www.deathridetour.com)
    2. Leadville Trail 100 (http://www.leadvilleraceseries.com/page/show/311976-leadville-trail-100-run)
    3. Leadman/Leadwomen (http://www.leadvilleraceseries.com/page/show/431578-leadman-and-leadwoman)

…and now you can do the ‘Double’ Triple Bypass (East to West on Sat. and West to East on Sun.)

Here’s a few for you to consider.

    Official mountain bike races:
Firecracker 50- July 4 in Breckenridge- awesome race. http://mavsports.com/?id=8
Breck 100- July 14, Breckenridge. Also available with 68 and 32 mile options. http://www.warriorscycling.com/events/breckenridge-100.php
Breck Epic- Aug. 11-17, Breckenridge. 6 day mountain bike stage race. Not easy but very worthwhile. Available as a 3 day race as well.
24 Hours of Colorado Springs National Mountain Bike Championship- Colorado Springs, Sept. 29-30. Race it as a team, race it solo. Go all night long.

A whole list of unofficial mountain bike races are listed over at http://coloradoes.wordpress.com/ . You could also consider Boulder to Winter Park via Rollins Pass as a viable event, too.

    Running Races
Colorado Relay, Sept. 7-8, Breckenridge to Snowmass. 200 miles, 10 person team relay. Benefits Outward Bound and First Descents.
Buchanan Pass to Pawnee Pass loop- whenever you choose, but I’d recommend late summer. http://fastestknowntime.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=west&action=display&thread=31
